Amazing Kentucky Principal stands up for transgender students

Student Christina Kelty speaking against the policy said that she feels its unfair that a minority
should have the same rights as cisgender Christians.

It takes courage to stand up to transphobia but its extraordinary when that happens in the bible belt. Atherton Kentucky principal Dr. Thomas Aberli told the assembly that he was standing by his policy allowing students access to public accommodations.

Dr.Aberli addressed the alliance defending religious freedom.org letter appealing the policy saying that he's taking personnel responsibility for his decision to allow transgender students to use the bathroom that matches their gender expression

Source Courier Journal A group of parents and community members have appealed Atherton High School's new policy that allows students to use the restroom and locker room of their sexual identity.

Atherton's site-based decision-making council will meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday to discuss the appeal, which was submitted in writing by Clinton Elliott, a Louisville attorney with the Christian-based legal group Alliance Defending Freedom.

"We submit that the SBDM council decision on June 5, 2014…violates the bounds of their authority relating to the use of space under (state law) and is inconsistent with state and federal law, inconsistent with concerns for safety and inconsistent with concerns for liability," the letter reads. "We therefore hereby appeal that decision, request a hearing and request that the SBDM council reconsider and reverse its decision."

Suspect surrenders to police for the murder of Transwoman Tiffany Edwards

Quamar Edwards wanted for the murder of Transwoman Tiffany Edwards, turns himself in to police. The suspect's uncle told WLWT:
"MY NEPHEW AIN'T ON NO HATE STUFF. DON'T MAKE IT KIND OF SEEN LIKE A MONSTER OR A VILLAIN." QUAMAR'S UNCLE SAYS TIFFANY ASKED HIS NEFF KNEW FOR A RIDE AND SOMEHOW THINGS ESCALATED FROM THERE.
"APPARENTLY HE FOUND OUT THE BOY WAS GAY BECAUSE HE TRIED TO HIT ON HIM AND ALL OTHER KIND OF STUFF. AND I TOLD YOU MY NEPHEW GOT AN ATTITUDE ABOUT THAT NOW. I DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED AFTER THAT, BUT THIS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH BECAUSE THE GUY WAS GAY."

WLWT and most Ohio media outlets identifies Tiffany as a man using her birth name. WLWT s does its best to present a man who committed a transpanic murder as the victim. If the murder did go down like how his uncle says it did, he was motivated by transpanic.. California's Assembly just voted for legislation outlawing that defense. AB-2501 is expected to pass the Senate and become law this year.

The investigation remains ongoing, and anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Cincinnati Police Department Criminal Investigation Section at (513) 352-3042.

Burger King Gay Whopper sends Wingnuts spiraling into a H8 filled tizzy

Burger King will be rolling out a new "Pride" burger this morning resplendent with a rainbow rapper. It will only be sold in San Fransisco for a limited time to celebrate there first ever sponsorship of a pride celebration.

Fernando Machado, senior vice president of global brand management at Burger King told CNBC "It showcases who we are as a brand," says . "It shows how we, as a brand, believe in self expression."

The inspiration behind the unusual burger wrap and video, he says, is Burger King's localized efforts to put into motion actions that support its recently-tweaked slogan: "Be Your Way."

I'm not all in love with cooperate sponsorships but my reservations are limited to the potential assimilation and influence that has on our culture.

But don't you know the 'Christians' are all up set, so much so one made this very funny video. Some vowed on the comments to boycott all BK's and to 'take back' the rainbow. News Flash bible thumpers.....no one owns the rainbow....

Seattle Trans March kicks off Pride with 2000

SEATTLE - Gay pride is a mainstream cause in Seattle, symbolized by a glittering Sunday parade that in recent years has moved from the LGBT heartland of Capitol Hill to Fourth Avenue downtown.

TransPride, the cause of the transgender community, is newer, edgier and angrier, the product of continued discrimination abroad in society and mistreatment even at home in the LGBT community.

But a TransPride rally, on a cool Friday night, drew to Cal Anderson Park a crowd of nearly 2,000 people.

"It is amazing to see you all. What a ***damned gorgeous crowd. I could not imagine this growing up, which is not too long ago. You were lucky if you knew even one other trans person," said keynote speaker Elena Rose, a writer and religious scholar.

Kai Green, a writer-poet-filmaker from California, described twin prejudices that make for the edginess: "I think homophobia is still with us, and trans-phobia still exists in the gay community. These are two things that we have to tackle simultaneously."

Transgendered people have long been stigmatized, but Green argued that they cannot be stereotyped. "We come in all different shades of color, from all class backgrounds, from all parts of the country. There is no single 'trans background,'" he added. "It's part of the reason why the trans movement intersects all sorts of movements about social justice." More at KOMO News
