Manoj Shahi Monika may become the first transgender person to successfully climb Mount Everest

Manoj Shahi Monika, a third gender from Kailali, Nepal could be the first documented transgender person to climb Mount Everest, but to do that the 35 year old must first make summit. The climb made famous by the book Into Thin Air is fraught with dangers that have maimed and killed many who have tempted fate.

There is a saying in mountaineering "Getting up is optional and getting down is mandatory."

“I cannot afford to miss the opportunity to make the record for climbing Everest as the member from the LGBT community,” said Monika, who wants to be listed in the Guinness Book of Records.

Monika dreams to flutter the national flag together with a banner of Blue Diamond Society, an organisation working for LGBT community in Nepal, at the top of the peak.

However, Monika isn't the first transgender person to be on Mount Everest, not by a long shot. Nineteen years before Hillary and Norgay successful summit, British climber Maurice Wilson attempted and possibly reached the peak. Little is known or written about Wilson's 1933 climb because she was transgender, or mad, as gender diversity was deemed then.

A transgender woman, Jan Morris, known at the time as James, had the coveted role as the sole reporter on the mountain when Hillary and Norgay made the first known successful climb.

I haven't been able to locate any further information about Monika's expedition but being the Mount Everest aficionado that I am I will certainly update this when I learn more.

Pussy Riot horse whipped, pepper sprayed by police in Sochi and attacked in a McDonalds

Russian punk group Pussy Riot is attacked by Cossack militia as they try to perform under a sign for the Sochi Olympics.

Cossack militia attacked the Pussy Riot punk group with horsewhips on Wednesday as the group staged an impromptu performance under a sign advertising the Sochi Olympics.
Six group members — five women and one man — donned their signature ski masks and were pulling out a guitar and microphone when at least 10 Cossacks and other security officials moved in.

One guard appeared to use pepper spray, another whipped several group members while others ripped off their masks and threw the guitar in a rubbish bin.

Police arrived and questioned witnesses, but no one was arrested.

"No one was arrested" even though the attack on Pussy Riot violates Federal law adopted by the Duma "ensuring the implementation of the Constitution of the Russian Federation established the rights of Russian citizens to assemble peacefully without arms, hold meetings, rallies, demonstrations, marches and pickets."

Then in March Putin's murderers attacked Maria and Nadia while they were eating in a McDonald's after visiting prisoners in the stalag they were jailed in. Western soldiers, take a good look at the thugs attacking these woman. Its a very good possibility the next place you see them will be on the battlefield. Be ready.

Pacific Justice Institute (PJI) designated a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center

The Southern Poverty Law Center has decreed The Pacific Justice Institute (PJI) a hate group.

The lawyer group that failed to undo California marriage equality and transgender student fairness laws, costing taxpayers millions defending their citizens have earned a just(ice) reward for their efforts.

The petition drive to force a public vote on transgender student's rights as unconscionable is it was, wasn't what earned them the lowest of designations.

Although the PJI was largely responsible for soliciting money to fund the professional signature gathers, that wasn't the reason for their new moniker. Nether was it unto it self the fear mongering by the signature gathers who prodded Californians into unwittingly endorse the petition.

PJI's tactics as despicable as they were, probably wouldn't have spurred the SPLC to action, it was what the PJI did outside of California that rendered them a hate group.

The PJI unable to find a single instance where a transgender student violated personal space inside the state found a vulnerable transgender student in Colorado to target. Armed with fictional 'proof' the PJI unmercifully hounded the girl until she was near suicide.

The PJI discredited by Cristan William's fact checking didn't admit lying instead proceeded to use a wider bigot's brush and continued to attack this child.

Cristan Williams has documented her magnificent part in #JD4PJI: The downfall of the Pacific Justice Institute and the sweet victory of trans youth at the TransAdvocate.

That's why the PJI is rightfully denoted as an active hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

This grass roots defense of California transgender students by the trans community and our allies is a major victory. We didn't ask for this fight, but let it be known, if you want to do battle, we are ready.

Transgender woman Chloie Jönsson sues Crossfit for 2.5 Million after being told she had to compete with men

Chloie Jönsson is suing for Rebox CrossFit for 2.5 Million dollars after receiving a letter reeking of cisgenderism and transphobia telling her she could not participate with other woman in the March Cross Fit Games.

In a letter obtained by TMZ Sports  from CrossFit to her she was told "We have simply ruled that based upon [Chloie] being born as a male, she will need to compete in the Men's Division."

CF argues ... "The fundamental, ineluctable fact is that a male competitor who has a sex reassignment procedure still has a genetic makeup that confers a physical and physiological advantage over women."

But in the letter, CF gets aggressive -- saying, "Our decision has nothing to do with 'ignorance' or being bigots -- it has to do with a very real understanding of the human genome, of fundamental biology, that you are either intentionally ignoring or missed in high school."

Crossfit goes on in the letter saying that they 'embrace' transgender athletes. But obviously not enough to allow a trans woman a chance at the $250,000.00 prize money.

Another assault on a transgender student at Hercules High

*Update: ABC is reporting the transgender male student recanted his story and has told police there was no attack or rape.

A male transgender student attending Hercules High school was admitted to the hospital Monday after three boys, 16 to 17 raped and beat him in the boy's bathroom. The condition of the transgender student is unknown. No arrests have been made at the time of this posting.

Last November Jewlyes Gutierrez was the only one charged after defending herself against three girls who had been bullying her.

Source San Jose Mercury News: The school's principal, Jennifer Bender, could not be reached for comment late Monday. Last month, 94 percent of the school's teachers supported a vote of no-confidence in Bender, saying she had created a toxic environment for students and staff.

West Contra Costa Unified School District board president Charles Ramsey said the kind of violence alleged in the attack will not be tolerated, and he hopes the subject will be addressed at next week's board meeting.

"It's a tragedy," Ramsey said. "We ... extend our sympathies and apologies to the victim. You hope that he is feeling better."

"Obviously things are running amok at Hercules," Ramsey added. "We have to do better. This is all escalating and starting to accumulate. Really, it's an unsafe environment at the school and a lot of people are concerned. "

Tiffany Woods, a Pinole native and transgender programs manager at Tri-City Health Center in Fremont, said Contra Costa has long struggled to address issues pertaining to transgender youth.

"I know Contra Costa from the fact that I went to high school there. Contra Costa is just a much more conservative district," Woods said. "I can't imagine this kid has a whole lot of support out there. Where are they going to get it from?"

We're not going to talk about "Dallas Buyers Club" at the 2014 LGBT journalist convening.

Yes we are.

I really tried to get recognized waving my hand to indicate I had input to be considered. However, Matt Foreman moderating the first panel "Understanding and deconstructing the attack lines of the anti LGBT industry" looked past me as if I didn't exist. I finally got his attention, but he just grimaced and looked away.

I wasn't the only one to notice this. Someone commented later about it but I shrugged it off. The convening was just kicking off and I had all day to speak up.

Second panel: "What we don't talk about: Radical methods for greater diversity in Queer Journalism."

The second panel, "What we don't talk about: Radical methods for greater diversity in Queer Journalism." I tried to get the moderator's attention during the Q and A, this time waving my hand a little more vigorously. I had something I really wanted to say, and this panel needed to hear it. Moreover, the journalists in attendance needed to hear what I had to say. However, moderator Erin Rock just ignored my gestures.

Last panel: "Airing our dirty laundry: Best practices in writing about touchy subjects"

The last panel was a flawless fit for my question. As a minority in the greater LGB media and even more so in mainstream media "Airing our dirty laundry: Best practices in writing about touchy subjects" was a perfect fit for my question.

This time, frustrated I raised my hand as soon as the moderator Sara Blazucki began inviting questions. Blazucki wouldn't even look in my direction even as I was ferociously waving both arms in the air. As she began to close the final panel, I shouted "I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY." I knew in my heart if she didn't call on me I was going to stand in front of the panel and have my say anyway. If they were that determined to shut me down completely they would have had to do it with law enforcement.

Looking at me in exasperation she invited me to speak. I made a comment on how GLAAD was giving  "Dallas Buyers Club"  a free pass on its inaccuracies regarding the history of HIV/AIDS and talked briefly about it's transphobic content, hoping others would become engaged in the conversation.

Now totally exasperated at this fucking tranny who had the audacity to demand equal time she inquired condescendingly 'Well, what's your point? Do you have something to say? Do you have a question"? Then totally frustrated she stated "Well, we're not going to talk about that here".

Bad move ace. We sure as fuck were going to talk about it.

So I turned around and looked at all of my fellow LGB bloggers and journalists. I asked them why they had been silent about the problematic content of that movie.

Why did it take  who wasn't even in the room to begin the conversation with "Don’t Applaud Jared Leto’s Transgender ‘Mammy" ?

Then looking directly at the ones who had written articles praising "Dallas Buyers Guide" I asked them why had done this. I asked if they understood that they were stomping on the graves of our fallen. Did they understand they were digging holes for transgender people with HIV/AIDS?

Not one person would look up. Not one. The ones who were looking in my general direction averted their eyes as I glanced at them

Yeah have a nice fucking day.

What will they talk about at the LGBT Journalist Convenings in the future? They will talk about understanding and deconstructing the attack lines of the anti LGBT industry, radical methods for greater diversity in Queer Journalism and Airing our dirty laundry: Best practices in writing about touchy subjects. They will talk about a lot of great topics just as long as the question and comments don't come from the fucking tranny kelli Busey.

Rest assured that won't happen again.
